There are so many awesome blogs and websites geared toward helping us dress better, be healthier, use our manners, and be better men. It seems like every month, a new fashion blog pops up (I’m guilty here).

I follow a handful of these blogs religiously, but there’s simply not enough time in the day to keep up with all of the great stuff being produced. So, I’ve put together this list for any man who wants resources about:
Lifestyle – Real manliness, self-improvement, personal and professional growth, post-adolescent life, and life’s finer things (cigars, spirits, etc.).
Fashion – Graduating your style, dressing for specific occasions, looking like a professional and wearing clothes that fit.
Gear – Gadgets, cars, technology, games, apps, decor and other manly things.
Fitness – Eating right, working out, losing weight, gaining muscle, getting enough sleep and sexual health.
Finance – Getting out of debt, saving money, investing, making more money and getting rich slowly.
Grooming – Shaving, skin care, personal hygiene, aging, oral care and hair loss.
Here’s what you won’t see in this list: Photo blogs of random “stylish” people on the streets of NYC, look books, pictures of runway models from “next spring’s hottest designer” and, finally, street gear. It’s not that I don’t like these sorts of websites. I sometimes find myself on The Satorialist or Street Etiquette, browsing photographs and what not. But I don’t really get anything from these blogs.
To be honest, they’re a little beyond me.
I don’t know the names of any designers, I’ve never attended a fashion show, and most of the stuff that runway models wear looks absolutely ridiculous to me. I don’t care what’s trendy. I’m more interested in further developing my personal sense of style and building out a timeless, high quality and versatile wardrobe – without breaking the bank.
With that said, here are my 50 favorite websites for men. Most are blogs, but there are a couple of magazine sites and forums on the list too. You can sort by rank*, name or category (fashion, lifestyle, fitness, gear, grooming and finance).
*After attempting to rank these sites myself, I decided to rank them according to their Alexa popularity score, a trusted metric for internet “rank”. It’s really hard comparing an awesome finance blog to an awesome fashion blog, or even trying to decide which blogs in a given category are the “best”. I love all of these websites, so don’t pay too much attention to their rank.
I know, I know. It would take about a decade to get through all of this great content, and if you followed even half of these regularly, you probably wouldn’t get much done. I recommend sticking to three or four that you really like.

A dandy (also known as a beau or gallant) is a man who places particular importance upon physical appearance, refined language, and leisurely hobbies, pursued with the appearance of nonchalance in a cult of Self. Historically, especially in late 18th- and early 19th-century Britain, a dandy, who was self-made, often strove to imitate an aristocratic lifestyle despite coming from a middle-class background.
Though previous manifestations of the petit-maître (French for small master) and the Muscadin have been noted by John C. Prevost, the modern practice of dandyism first appeared in the revolutionary 1790s, both in London and in Paris. The dandy cultivated skeptical reserve, yet to such extremes that the novelist George Meredith, himself no dandy, once defined "cynicism" as "intellectual dandyism"; nevertheless, the Scarlet Pimpernel is one of the great dandies of literature. Some took a more benign view; Thomas Carlyle in his book Sartor Resartus, wrote that a dandy was no more than "a clothes-wearing man". Honoré de Balzac introduced the perfectly worldly and unmoved Henri de Marsay in La fille aux yeux d'or (1835), a part of La Comédie Humaine, who fulfils at first the model of a perfect dandy, until an obsessive love-pursuit unravels him in passionate and murderous jealousy.
Charles Baudelaire, in the later, "metaphysical" phase of dandyism defined the dandy as one who elevates æsthetics to a living religion, that the dandy's mere existence reproaches the responsible citizen of the middle class: "Dandyism in certain respects comes close to spirituality and to stoicism" and "These beings have no other status, but that of cultivating the idea of beauty in their own persons, of satisfying their passions, of feeling and thinking .... Contrary to what many thoughtless people seem to believe, dandyism is not even an excessive delight in clothes and material elegance. For the perfect dandy, these things are no more than the symbol of the aristocratic superiority of his mind."
The linkage of clothing with political protest had become a particularly English characteristic during the 18th century. Given these connotations, dandyism can be seen as a political protestation against the rise of levelling egalitarian principles, often including nostalgic adherence to feudal or pre-industrial values, such as the ideals of "the perfect gentleman" or "the autonomous aristocrat", though paradoxically, the dandy required an audience, as Susann Schmid observed in examining the "successfully marketed lives" of Oscar Wilde and Lord Byron, who exemplify the dandy's roles in the public sphere, both as writers and as personae providing sources of gossip and scandal.

Barbey d'Aurevilly observed in 1845. Ever unpowdered, unperfumed, immaculately bathed and shaved, and dressed in a plain dark blue coat, he was always perfectly brushed, perfectly fitted, showing much perfectly starched linen, all freshly laundered, and composed with an elaborately knotted cravat. From the mid-1790s, Beau Brummell was the early incarnation of "the celebrity", a man chiefly famous for being famous—in his case, as a laconically witty clothes-horse.
By the time Pitt taxed hair powder in 1795 to help pay for the war against France and to discourage the use of flour (which had recently increased in both rarity and price, owing to bad harvests) in such a frivolous product, Brummell had already abandoned wearing a wig, and had his hair cut in the Roman fashion, "à la Brutus". Moreover, he led the transition from breeches to snugly tailored dark "pantaloons," which directly led to contemporary trousers, the sartorial mainstay of men's clothes in the Western world for the past two centuries. In 1799, upon coming of age, Beau Brummell inherited from his father a fortune of thirty thousand pounds, which he spent mostly on costume, gambling, and high living. In 1816 he suffered bankruptcy, the dandy's stereotyped fate; he fled his creditors to France, quietly dying in 1840, in a lunatic asylum in Caen, just before age 62.
Men of more notable accomplishments than Beau Brummell also adopted the dandiacal pose: George Gordon Byron, 6th Baron Byron occasionally dressed the part, helping reintroduce the frilled, lace-cuffed and lace-collared "poet shirt". In that spirit, he had his portrait painted in Albanian costume.
Another prominent dandy of the period was Alfred Guillaume Gabriel d'Orsay, the Count d'Orsay, who had been friends with Byron and who moved in the highest social circles of London.

Robert Stock is a native of Bronx, New York whose interest in fashion was influenced by his father, a mechanic and gas station owner who liked to wear bright, colorful, patterned shirts. He began his career working for small New York-based menswear designer Paul Ressler, but in 1970 created his own line called Country Britches. While still working at a local men's store in the Bronx, he met fellow New York designer Ralph Lauren when Lauren entered the store as a tie salesman. The two became friends and Stock sold his own company to collaborate with Lauren on his Chaps collection. The two parted in 1975 for Stock to launch his own Country Roads line, for which he won a Coty Award for Best American Sportswear Designer and a Cutty Sark Award for Leading American Men's wear Designer. He then developed his Robert Stock Designs brand, growing internationally, until forming Robert Graham.
The idea that would become Robert Graham came after meeting Graham Fowler, a French textile designer.The two launched the new label in 2001. Fowler left the following year to pursue other projects while Stock remained to serve as Co-Chairman and Chief Creative Officer.
Robert Graham has a wide distribution, sold by boutiques as well as large department store chains like Nordstrom, Nieman Marcus, Sak's Fifth Avenue, and Bloomingdale's. It has a flagship store on Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Los Angeles, California.
Stock and Fowler intended to fill a menswear niche "that craved pops of color and interesting, conversation-provoking pieces," a style Stock would later call "American Eclectic."By offering sizes up to 4XL, the brand has been able to expand upon that niche to customers not typically served by luxury fashion labels.
In addition to bright colors and patterns, Robert Graham shirts use contrasting patterns and embroidery on inward-facing surfaces such as inside shirt cuffs, under collars, and along the button line. Printed or embroidered on every garment is the company motto "Knowledge Wisdom Truth."The unusual, frequently hidden details have become as closely identified with the brand as the outward patterns. Though it began with and continues to focus on menswear, and men's shirts in particular, the brand has branched out to pants, shorts, sport coats, outerwear, neckwear, accessories, hats, shoes, and denim. In 2005 the company began production of womenswear as well, using the same kinds of color, contrast, and detail-heavy aesthetics.

The beginning in Europe of continual and increasingly rapid change in clothing styles can be fairly reliably dated. Historians, including James Laver and Fernand Braudel, date the start of Western fashion in clothing to the middle of the 14th century.The most dramatic early change in fashion was a sudden drastic shortening and tightening of the male over-garment from calf-length to barely covering the buttocks, sometimes accompanied with stuffing in the chest to make it look bigger. Intellectual property rules that interfere with this process of trend-making would, in this view, be counter-productive. On the other hand, it is often argued that the blatant theft of new ideas, unique designs, and design details by larger companies is what often contributes to the failure of many smaller or independent design companies.
Since fakes are distinguishable by their poorer quality, there is still a demand for luxury goods, and as only a trademark or logo can be copyrighted, many fashion brands make this one of the most visible aspects of the garment or accessory. In handbags, especially, the designer's brand may be woven into the fabric (or the lining fabric) from which the bag is made, making the brand an intrinsic element of the bag.
In 2005, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) held a conference calling for stricter intellectual property enforcement within the fashion industry to better protect small and medium businesses and promote competitiveness within the textile and clothing industries.
